Log a workout by starting a session, recording each set, and finishing it. A session you discard is not saved.

## Start a workout

You can start from the home screen or from Library.

1. Open Lyfta.
2. On the home screen, tap + and select New Workout. Or open Library and start the workout from there.
3. Choose a workout template, or add exercises yourself.
4. Start the session before the first set.

The rest timer and last-time weights show once the workout is active.

## Log sets

1. Add the exercise if it is not already in the session.
2. Enter the weight and reps for the set you just did.
3. Repeat for each set.
4. When the session is over, open Finish Workout and save it.

History only includes a workout you finished. To put the session on an earlier day, set the date on Finish Workout. See [Log a workout from the past](/article/log-a-past-workout).

## Add a custom exercise

Use this when the exercise is not in the library.

1. Open Library and tap Create exercise.
2. Give the exercise a name. The name is required.
3. Add a photo or video, instructions, exercise type, body parts, equipment, or muscles if you want them.
4. Tap Save.

If a photo or video is still uploading, wait until it finishes before you tap Save.

You can also create one while logging. In the workout, tap Add exercises, search for the name, then tap Create Exercise. Clear any filters first if Create Exercise is not shown. Saving it from the workout adds it to the session.

Custom exercises are listed under Library → Custom exercises.

## If a workout is missing

1. Check that you saved it on Finish Workout, and did not discard it.
2. Pull to refresh History.
3. Stay online for a moment after you finish. The workout stays on the phone until it syncs.

> **Still missing?** Email support@lyfta.app with the date, the routine name, and whether you finished or discarded the session.

If history is empty because you signed into a different account, see [Signed in, but your workouts are missing](/article/signed-in-empty-account).
