Payment failed or change your payment method
Fix a declined Lyfta Premium payment, or change the card, in the store that bills you.
Lyfta does not store your card. The store that started the subscription does. On Android that is Google Play. On iPhone it is the App Store.
“Payment failed” means that store declined the purchase. “Change payment method” means you want a different card on a subscription that already exists. Both are fixed in the store, then you try again in Lyfta.
If the payment was declined on Android
Lyfta shows this when Google Play refuses the charge: add funds or choose another payment method in Google Play, then try again.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Payment methods.
- Add a card that can be charged, or fix the one Play tried to use.
- Return to Lyfta and start the Premium purchase again.
If Play says the purchase is pending, finish that payment in Google Play before you start a second one. A second attempt can charge you twice.
Note: A message that the developer has not acknowledged the payment is also a Google Play problem. Wait a few minutes, update Google Play, and open Lyfta again. Do not pay a second time.
Change the card on an Android subscription
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Lyfta.
- Update the payment method and confirm.
The next renewal uses that method. Changing it does not refund a charge that already went through. To ask for money back, request a refund.
The app said it failed, but the bank was charged
The bank message and the Play receipt are the source of truth, not the dialog in Lyfta.
- In Google Play, open Subscriptions and see if Lyfta is already active.
- If it is active, do not pay again. Open Lyfta and use Restore purchases if Premium is still locked.
- If you were charged twice, request a refund for the extra charge.
If you subscribed on iPhone
Change the card on the Apple ID that pays for Lyfta.
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap your name, then Payment & Shipping.
- Update the payment method.
- Return to Lyfta and try the purchase again.
If you paid on the web
Email support@lyfta.app from the address on your Lyfta account. Say whether the payment was declined or you need a different card for the next bill.
Changing plan length, such as monthly to yearly, is a different task. See how to change your Premium plan.
